A weekly encouraging devotional and update from pastor Brandon.

I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers, because I hear of your love and of the faith that you have toward the Lord Jesus and for all the saints, and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ. For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you.
Philemon 1:4-7
Refresh My Heart
There are people in my life that are truly a joy to see. When I know I am going to get to see them I look forward to seeing them. I look forward to asking them questions and hearing about their lives. It brings me great joy to hear from them and about them.
You are those people to me. I love getting to spend time with you and hear about your lives, even in the brief times that we do get to interact each week. I love hearing how God is using you or what God has shown you and how you are growing in your faith.
It truly does refresh my heart.
As Paul was writing this passage He was trying to get this point across to Philemon.
- I love you as a brother or sister in Christ
- I love hearing of your faith in Christ
- I pray that you will become even more fruitful in Christ
- You have refreshed my heart in Christ because I have heard of your faith.
The common theme in each o these point is CHRIST. We are brothers and sisters in Christ seeking a common goal of worshipping Him and pointing others to Him. You are a blessing to me and you do REFRESH MY HEART IN CHRIST. Thank you.

FeedBack
As always I love to hear feed back from the congregation and worship team. I need to know what you think, like, and dislike. I am so thankful for each of you and want to make sure I am serving you and making you feel loved and appreciated.
The Goal of Communication - Focused & Aligned
- Eliminate confusion
- Drive clarity
- Generate action
Where are we going?
Modern Service – we will move the needle to be more modern in this service. That will look like doing more modern songs both new to us and familiar.
Classic Service – We will be intentional about doing more hymns and hymn-like songs. Making the service feel a bit traditional.
How do we get there?
I am praying and seeking the Lord, as I have been, for wisdom and discernment in song selection and arrangements. I will plan, Check planning center files for accuracy, and send you songs well in advance for you to listen, learn, and practice ahead of rehearsal each week. We will play some hymns with just a click and some with the full tracks and arrangements we are used to.
The arrangements and keys will be set and not changed once we learn a new song. There may be times this is not possible, and you will have plenty of notice.
Why does it matter?
I want you to know that I am praying and sending a lot of time evaluating feedback and congregational engagement. I want Family Church to be know as a church who worships! I am sensitive to the needs of the church family and will select songs and arrangements accordingly.
What do we need to do to be successful?
Continue showing up! Prepare and Pray. Remember
5 Phases of Rehearsal
- Preparation (at home)
- You prepare at home so when we get to rehearsal we can rehearse not learn songs.
- Pre- Rehearsal – set up gear on stage.
- Get set up before devo time.
- Devo time – something spiritual
- Current songs – Talk through/comments
- We will talk through order of service and song flow/arrangements.
- Run through the Modern service. If no issues move on to classic service songs. Then finally new & unfamiliar songs.
- New & Unfamiliar Songs
The expected outcome of rehearsal is for everyone to leave refreshed, confident, and excited about leading on Sunday. I hope these changes can help that outcome be consistent.
