42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved

Acts:2:42-47

A True Community

As believers we are meant to be together. We are meant to share life, share resources, & share space. Meaning community is where we will experience life as Christ intended. Life where we can learn, have genuine fellowship, share a meal, and pray for one another. (2:42)

All of those things cannot be done alone. The enemy would want us to think that we don’t need others but that is not true. We even see from creation that God intended for us to be relational in nature just as he was in the form of the trinity. (Gen 1:1)

When we gather, we are more encouraged to take part in worship and experience the presence of God simply because we are united in a common purpose, to worship God. We are also more likely to be generous because our hearts are knit together with the community of believers. We also are more likely to grow deeper in our understanding because we can discuss the things of God together. (2:43-47)

All of this makes for a Christ-centered Biblical community, the way God untended.

What does this mean for us as FCWorship?

I am so thankful that we have a smaller community that we are a part of in the context of the larger local church. We get to know each other’s needs, desires, likes, and dislikes. Which means we can better minister to our team. When we know each other, we can love better.

·      How can we know each other better?

·      What do you need to share this week?

·      How can we pray for you?
