Sunday School Teacher: Fellowship

SSTfellowshipToday we are talking about fellowship. I would describe fellowship as “hanging out with a purpose”, that purpose being to grow closer to Christ. As a follower of Christ we should crave a closer relationship with God and talking about the things of Christ with other like-minded people should be an exciting prospect and worthy of our very best effort!

Listen to what the writer of Hebrews says.

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you seethe Day drawing near.

Hebrews 10:19-25

Consider the what might happen if we actually did what the Lord said in His word! Can you imagine a mind focused on finding ways to “stir up love and good works” in each other. I don’t know about you but I need that. I need to renew my mind on Christ and His Word with the goal of encouraging myself and others towards “love & good works”.

As you begin to think about your class and summer winds down try and plan a gathering with your class. If you have a large class this would be a great time to get down to some more smaller conversations. If you have a small class you may want to partner with another class and do one together. The important thing is to talk about life together and encourage one another.

Blessings,
